Palm Sunday - Hope Week 2025
Jesus' Triumphant Entry
Today we remember how Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem was celebrated as triumphant and hope filled. Yet, His heart is revealed not just in what He does, but in how He does it: He enters the city on a donkey.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
- Zechariah 9:9
This act illustrates Jesus’ counterintuitive way in our world. He enters our world in both power and humility. The way of Jesus is marked by celebration and surrender. Jesus’ life and ministry are defined by grace and truth. Though prophesied that God would one day return to bring peace to Jerusalem, the cheers of “Hosanna!” ring out, revealing the people’s longing for rescue, yet they misunderstand the true nature of His mission.
Jesus’ life and mission were marked by simple love and service to God and others. Today, let’s pause and reflect on how Jesus invites us to follow in His footsteps.
• What distractions vie for your time and attention this week?
• How will you remain connected to Jesus and His work in your life?
• How might you invite others into conversation about the hope of Jesus this week?
